In this course participants will understand and recognize the muscles that contribute to the stability and support of the lower back in our yoga practice. They will understand and pranayama and pre-asana movement that supports the lower back. They will participate in a foundational yoga practice while maintaining spinal neutral.


    Alignment and Anatomy Clinic for Yoga Teachers

    This 4 hour clinic will break down some of the foundational yoga postures to educate you on how to move safely on your mat so that yoga may be a lifelong practice. It includes an in depth review of our "core" musculature. Through lecture, demonstration, and practice you will learn how to teach a yoga practice that encourages optimal health and safety of the spine. This class is appropriate for yoga teachers.

          Kunga Yoga Teacher Trainings teach students skills for ?living yoga? both on and off the mat while working towards their 200 hour and/or 300 hour Certifications. All Kunga Yoga, Wilmington Yoga Center, and Affiliate studio programs meet or exceed the standards set forth by the internationally recognized Yoga Alliance. Yoga Alliance has established widely adopted rigorous standards for education and certification. With several approaches to yoga being shared (orthodox and synthesis), this training provides a unique opportunity to learn about different traditions within one cumulative program. Instruction is provided in a ?big picture? format of the physical practices of hatha yoga, with a ?smaller picture? introduction into the practice and theory of other prominent styles such as Kripalu, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Prana Flow, Kundalini, Prenatal yoga, Yogic lifestyle, ethics, vegan living, anatomy and physiology, and pranayama are covered in detail, along with an introduction to therapeutic yoga & kids yoga.

              Professional Yoga Therapy Institute: Yoga as Medicine III Module 15

              Module 15 covers Ayurveda for the medical professional, and provides the student with templates for Ayurvedic evaluation and prescription, within the scope of practice of the Professional Yoga Therapist. Module 15 also covers facets of sound and its use during therapy, including vocal production, preservation, and music labs. Module 15 covers the advanced clinical practice and prescription of yoga postures inversions and semi-inversions.

                  Specifically designed for yoga teachers and serious practitioners of yoga, this 500-hour yoga teacher training presents the anatomy and function of the major muscles and joints and how they are involved in yoga Asana. By closely examining each posture, you will develop a greater understanding of what is happening in the body. You will learn about injuries including: prevention, modifications, indications/contraindications and the physiology behind injuries. You will learn how Asana, Pranayama and Meditation can be used therapeutically to deepen and enhance your own yoga practice and that of your students for a greater holistic wellness. The impact of Pranayama and Meditation on the nervous system will also be addressed.
